One of the earliest records of an indoor Christmas tree in the United States dates to the 1830s with German settlers in Pennsylvania. But it was an 1848 image of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and their family around a Christmas tree at Windsor Castle, published in the London Illustrated News, that made this holiday tradition popular in America.
