Kathleen Bartlett Named Executive Director of Macculloch Hall

The Board of Trustees of Macculloch Hall Historical Museum (MHHM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen Bartlett as its next Executive Director, effective November 1, 2025.

A close neighbor of the Museum, Bartlett has long been part of Macculloch Hall—as a supporter, volunteer, and most recently, Trustee. As a Morristown resident, she brings a deep appreciation for the region’s history and its role in shaping the American story, along with a steadfast commitment to inspire learning, civic engagement, and stewardship of local heritage.

Bartlett joins MHHM with extensive experience in marketing, communications, and educational outreach for local non-profit organizations. Most recently, she served as Associate Director of Marketing and Communications at Gill St. Bernard’s School, where she developed campaigns that elevated the school’s visibility and strengthened its relationships with the wider community. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and has taught English literature at Montclair State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

“Macculloch Hall has undergone an extraordinary transformation over the last decade—from achieving national accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums to expanding its reach globally through Bloomberg Connects,” Bartlett said. “As we celebrate the Museum’s 75th anniversary and look ahead to the nation’s 250th, I am honored to work alongside the Board and MHHM’s dedicated staff to broaden awareness of this remarkable institution and to share history in ways that meaningfully connect the past and present.”

“Katie’s deep roots in Morristown and her dedication to the Museum’s mission make her an ideal leader for this next chapter,” said Jock Clark, President of the Board of Trustees. “Her passion for education and community connection will ensure that Macculloch Hall continues to thrive as both a historic treasure and a vital part of Morristown’s cultural life.”

Founded in 1950, the Museum preserves and interprets the 1810 Federal-style home and gardens of George and Louisa Macculloch, who helped define Morristown’s role in early American civic life. It holds the nation’s largest single collection of works by American political cartoonist Thomas Nast as well as an extensive fine and decorative arts collection.

An avid gardener, Bartlett joins a line of directors who view MHHM’s historic gardens as both sanctuary and classroom. Under her leadership, the Museum will continue to expand its impact and build upon its legacy of preservation, education, and public service.

The Museum is open Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on weekdays by appointment. Please call (973) 538-2404 or email info@maccullochhall.org to schedule a visit. The gardens are open daily, free of charge, 8:00 a.m. to dusk.
