Guess & Go Story Time: What’s Inside Museums?

You can find museums in every country and on every continent around the world. There is even a museum in Antarctica.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) defines a museum as “a non-profit, permanent institution in the service of society and its development, open to the public, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment.”

In the museum, visitors can see and learn about objects that beginning with the letter A all the way through the letter Z. Whether it’s anvils to zithers at history museums, or anteaters to zebus, at a natural history museum, there is always something interesting to explore.

As you plan your next museum adventure, listen to the children’s stories selected by MHHM Curator of Education and Community Engagement to learn more about museums.

Join us on Facebook Live to hear “How to Take Your Grandmother to the Museum” written by Lois Wyse and her 10-year old granddaughter, Molly Rose Goldman, and “Isabella Artist Extraordinaire” by Jennifer Fosberry.

Stories are read from the historic rooms inside Macculloch Hall Historical Museum.
